spring break imageSpring has sprung! In our house, Spring Break is the mini-version of what comes next: summer break. It will be here before we know it.

Kids look forward to the breaks away from school, but boredom sets in FAST!  It only takes a day or two for the newness of the break to wear off when moms and dads are flooded with their little ones complaining “I’m bored!!”

My kids just did this! I is spring break here and on day one – DAY ONE! – I heard this complaint.

It was time for creative mommy brain! I knew I needed to come up with some ways to turn off the “I’m bored” and give the kids fun things to do to pass the time.

Mom’s Foolproof Spring Break Distraction – Scavenger Hunts

Do you remember doing scavenger hunts as a kid? I personally loved them when I was younger.

I updated the activity for my digital natives – still making sure they had to “do” something other than stare at a screen.

All four of my children received tablets for Christmas, and they needed them for my scavenger hunt. No tablets? No worries! A phone camera works just as well!

No technology? Give the kids a bag or basket for collecting items.

I gave each child a short list of objects to find … outside! As they found each object, my kids had to take a picture. That way, they could “prove” to me that they did indeed find the item that they checked off the list.

They had so much fun with the first round that they created lists for each other and several hours passed by pretty quickly.

Try it! I know your kids will have just as much fun as mine did!

Share a picture of your spring break Scavenger Hunt list in our comments! We’d love to see it.
